FAQ'S
Common Questions about going solar
Is solar power a good investment?
Absolutely! Solar is one of the smartest investments you can make for your home. It lowers your electric bills, boosts your property value, and locks in long-term savings. Most systems pay for themselves within ten to twelve years. After that, you’re generating free, clean power for decades while helping Oregon reach its clean energy goals.
Does Oregon have a good net metering policy?
Yes! Oregon has one of the best net metering programs in the country. With net metering, homeowners can send their unused solar energy back to the grid during months of surplus. This builds up a bank of energy credits that can be used during the winter when production is lower.
More than half of the systems we install offset 100% of our customers’ annual energy consumption.
What’s the best way to get financing for my solar project?
Here’s our recommended approach for finding the best rates:
1) Start by contacting the bank you have the most history with. Ask about solar loans and HELOCs since they often have the best rates.
2) Contact Climate First Bank. They’ve been giving some of the best solar loan rates lately.
3) Contact Puget Sound Community Credit Union. They’ve historically offered strong solar loan options.
4) Check with EZSolarLoan.com. They act as a professional middleman to multiple banks and charge the banks directly.
Will my power still work if the grid goes down?
Standard grid-tied solar systems automatically shut off during an outage to protect utility workers. Your panels won’t power your home unless you have battery backup. If you include batteries, your system can keep essential loads running even when the grid is down, giving you true energy independence.
Is it better to wait for new technologies?
Solar technology is already mature, reliable, and more affordable than ever. Prices have stabilized, and efficiency improvements are now mostly incremental. Waiting rarely leads to big savings, but installing now lets you start saving immediately and take advantage of current incentives.
Can you remove and re-install my existing solar panels?
Yes. We can safely remove your current system for roof work, re-roofing, or remodeling, then reinstall it once the project is complete. We’ll inspect all components during the process to make sure everything is working properly before it’s reconnected to the grid.

Why do you need my energy bill?
Your energy bill shows how much electricity you use each month, which helps us design a solar system that’s the right size for your home.
