From start to finish, the Cascade Solar team was communicative, professional, and a pleasure to work with. I found them through the Energy Trust of Oregon, and Nicole and Robert reached out promptly to schedule a site visit to review the property, our needs, and cost balance. It took less than a month from signing the contract to having our 11-panel system installed (of which physical installation was completed in less than a day)! Rachel did a fantastic job coordinating all the moving parts and following up to ensure everything was finalized smoothly. Over the past three years, I conducted an extensive review and comparison of various solar companies to find the best option for installing a solar system on my property. Cascade Solar installed 23 panels on my roof. I'm generating my own power right now and it is so satisfying. The Cascade Solar staff was excellent beginning to end. We have an Outback GS8048A system installed in 2016 and were looking to upgrade our aging AGM batteries to Lithium (3x Fortress eVault Max). TL,DR: Tom Crowe (owner) is the best. There aren't many vendors I'd trust with a blank check for a project, but here's one. Fella has better memory than a brand new gaming computer, and the forward momentum of a Chihuahua to its food dish after a 3 day fast.
I worked for a solar company for almost a year to afford the solar array of my dreams... And almost immediately started seeing all the things I wished I'd done differently. I won't go into it, but it's a lot more complicated than just slapping a few extra panels up there.
Cascade handled all the reassembly, rewiring, and acquisition of hard to match panels (found at half price!!!). At almost the same discounted per-panel pricing as I got from the initial installers I worked for to get! Moreover, they pressure washed the existing panels for me, removed the critter guard (just held the pine needles, water, and snow on the metal roof)... And I'm not even sure they charged me for these additional services 🤯

The team at CascadeSolar was great to work with. Tom was our first contact person, and was extremely helpful in sizing our system. David and crew did the actual installation and were very professional. The team was very helpful in explaining the process, doing the design work, and getting a permit from the City of Portland. My wife and I are very pleased with the outcome.
I chose Cascade Solar for our home installation. They were great to work with from the very first contact. Helpful, informative and professional. The first two companies I talked with were from online searches and were National outfits w/ local installers. The online sales people were friendly enough but clearly working to close a sale. After two estimates, I discovered Cascade when looking for someone in Portland. Not only were they far less expensive, they were extremely helpful about what to expect during installation and from the system once it was up and running. They are truly full service. They helped us with financing and have responded quickly to questions. They clearly take great pride in their work and work hard to earn and keep your trust. If you are thinking of going solar - go with Cascade!
While several contractors proved unhelpful or unresponsive, Cascade provided thoughtful ideas, suggestions and advice. I'd be happy to work with them again.
Cascade Solar was incredible. On the financial side, everything was clear and simple, with no pushiness or sneakiness (which was prevalent in other companies we initially considered). Moreover, the workmanship and professionalism were spectacular—I hardly noticed anyone was here… no mess, no delays, just clean and quick installation. If you’re planning on getting solar, go with Cascade Solar.
Solar is a BIG purchase, but Cascade Solar made it a transparent, honest one with skill on install, flexibility in scheduling, a competitive price per watt compared to most, and access to a lender specializing in green lending at market or slightly-below market rates. They communicated great throughout and the process is more streamlined with them than two other firms installing for different friends of ours were.
Our experience with bidding firms was wildly divergent - from “that big firm” that felt like dealing with a bot, to other mid-tier firms that frankly padded their bids (one firm quoted the same price for final install that we had for CS, but for 60% the array size!).
Our Enphase system is performing as advertised and the backup Powerwalls give us a bit more assurance in outages which have become all-too-common in PDX winters.
They got us to a reasonable cost per watt installed with high-quality components, took care of the permitting and inspections, and did a final walk-through meeting to test our system performance and make any adjustments needed.
If you are considering solar, give these folks a call. There are a lot of shady characters looking to make a mint on folks not doing their due diligence. Cascade Solar is local to PDX and absolutely worth your time to consider!

Our solar panel installation was in July 2023, so this review is now 4 months after the job was finished. The process started before July 2023, when we met Tom Crowe from Cascade Solar at a Home Improvement show at the Oregon Convention Center earlier in the year. He and his staff were very helpful at that time, but even more so during the bidding process, build/permitting and final completion. Tom was able to answer the most mundane basic questions to more complex electrical questions about best ambient temperatures for panels to operate at their most efficient. The communication process was great and work done was the highest quality. So far, the solar panels are operating as in our original proposal. The app we use to monitor the arrays is very user friendly and provide lots of information. There was no sales pressure that can come from other solar installers. We appreciate how thorough Cascade Solar was through the whole process. Do something good for the planet, get solar panels, especially from Cascade Solar.
